During the IFA 2011 fair in Berlin, Philips has presented their new platform: Smart TV.

Together with Philips, Sharp, Loewe and LG are trying to bring together a standard platform for TV Applications and MM content. This is a huge step for developers.

The main novelties are found in the Home Screen where the current TV channel can still be viewed at the same time as accessing apps and recommended content. Also, other options such as payment platforms have been included.

At the same time, their are currently developing an Android and iOS app to act as a remote control, "MyRemote."

The new Smart TV platform will be available for the Philips series 6000, 7000, 8000, 9000 and Cinema 21:9 Platinum and Gold.
